Tutorial: Metallic Watercolors

Pretty Pink Posh: Tutorial-Metallic WatercolorsGood morning my sparkly Pretty Pink Posh friends!

Heather here to review something new and fun that I saw recently and wanted to know more about – Gansai Tambai Starry Night watercolors! These have been something I have heard a lot about, but also haven’t seen much on how to use them, so I thought I would share my findings with you, and a couple cards using them!

Here is a video I filmed testing them out. I first tried them on plain old 110 lb black cardstock and watercolor paper – but then moved on to testing them OVER the TOP of another watercolor wash in a few deeper colors, and then over some 110 lb white cardstock with some distress inks applied. It was fun seeing how they worked in each application – and this helped me get some ideas of how to use them more in the future!

At the end of the video, I created a couple of watercolor brushed backgrounds – then decided I ought to use them on a card, right? :)

I put together some little umbrella’s by heat embossing the top of the umbrella’s from Rainy Days stamp set in white on vellum, then die cutting them as well as the rest of the pieces from gold cardstock using the coordinating Rainy Days Dies. I carefully glued them together with a bit of sturdy glue and let them dry.

I did some heat embossed sentiments on a strip of black cardstock and vellum, then attached them, and the umbrella’s to my background.

Once the cards were together, I decided something was still missing, so I added some small Scallop circles and a few Sparkling Clear sequins to finish them off! Here is a closer look at each of them – and that black one was HARD to photograph!
