Winter Woodland w/ Distress Oxide Inks

Hello, Jeanne here! Today I’m playing with the new Winter Woodland stamp set and coordinating dies.  This set is perfect for making winter scenes.

I started out with a simple distress ink background. I inked up a white card stock panel with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink along the outer edges, and then added Wilted Violet Distress OXIDE down the center.  I used the Wilted Violet Distress Oxide because it’s lighter than the regular “Distress” ink.  I didn’t want the center of the panel too dark.  I splashed the panel with water, and then again with some watered down Distress Ink Wilted Violet.   The finishing touch is a splash of white ink. I like to experiment with layouts before I commit and start gluing them down. I usually stamp, color and die cut several images and keep them with the stamp set so next time I want to create the images are ready to work with.

I created snowy hills by die cutting the Scallop Borders 1 Dies.  I stamped the sentiment directly on the white snowy border.

Now to adhere the elements in place. I used glue dots to adhere the holly branches – a liquid adhesive might activate the inky background. Once they were dry I snipped off the ends.

I tucked the bunny’s log into the snow drift.

I stamped all the images with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic markers. The little dots on the berries were added with a white gel pen.

This scene was fun to create and embellish.  What will you make today?
