5 Days of Christmas Giveaways: Day 1

Hi crafty friends, Eloise here today to share a card using the new Penguin Pals Stamp Set and Layered Tree Dies to create a fun Christmas scene. Plus, we are kicking off 5 Days of Christmas, which is where we’ll have a new giveaway each day, along with some holiday inspiration!

Watch the video above   I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

To start off my card today I stamped out the penguins from Penguin Pals as well as the branch and log from Winter Woodland. I coloured them in with Copic Markers and then cut them out using the coordinating dies.

While I had my die cutting machine out, I also die cut out the Layered Tree Die from white cardstock along with a snowy hill using the Stitched Borders 1 Die Set.

Copic Markers Used: W3, W5, W7 / R17, R29, R89 / YG03, YG25, YG17 / YG67 / E55, E57, E59 / Y13, Y15, Y19 / Y35, YR12, YR18 / W00, W0, 0

Next up I coloured the Layered Tree using the same green Copics as before, except I added In YG67 to darken it up a little. After I coloured in all the elements, I dried them off and started on my background. I took a piece of watercolour paper and ink blended some Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks. I flicked on some water and dried it with a heat tool.

I then adhered on my snowy hill and then my branches and the tree in the middle. I then adhered the rest of my penguins onto my scene as well. To finish up, I cut apart my ‘Merry Wishes’ stamp so I could have a side-by-side sentiment instead of on top of each other and stamped it on the top of my panel and white heat embossed it.

  1. Super cute card. Those penguins just are the cutest little things. Your card is beautiful, cute and perfect for this season.

  2. What a darling card! Holiday Traditions: as my kids get older I’m so thankful for the tradition that we all gather together. Being with Family is the best.

  3. These penguins are adorable! My favorite tradition is cutting down our Christmas tree. This tradition goes way back to when I was a little girl and my husband and I have kept it going with our kids.

  4. This is such a sweet card, I love this Christmas tree die, and the penguins are so cute, too! My new favourite Christmas tradition is baking cookies with my little girls – I never knew that it can be so much fun with little kids! Seeing their little happy faces as they get to decorate the cookies, and then eat them, or gift them to others, and their pride… priceless… Well, for now I get to do it with my older daughter, and in a year or two my little baby girl will surely join in! :-)

  5. That first purchase of eggnog; always vowing to be moderate! It means getting out those special glasses, you know… the ones with moose antlers for handles!

  6. I love baking Christmas cookies with my sister and three nieces! We always make the same cookies
every year because everyone loves them! So far we have made decorated butter cookies, bon bons
and Russian teacakes. Still have to make more!

  7. Those penguins all piled up next to the tree are just too cute! Love this!

  8. I love spending time with my children and grandchildren at our beach house. The children and I make ornaments from shells collected during the summer. This year I want to use a shaker card die cut for tiny shells.

  9. My favorite holiday tradition is decorating our Christmas tree! Each year we add a new ornament for that year. I started this as a baby and my husband has continued this tradition with me. I love thinking and talking about memories that are associated with each ornament as we hang them on the tree!

  10. One of our (or at least, my) favorite traditions, is the way we trim the tree each year. I remove each ornament from the box, unwrap them, and hand them to my husband and daughter for placement on the tree. Just a simple, silly little thing really, but we’ve done it this way for several years now, and we all have fun.

  11. This card is so cute! Our favorite tradition is having homemade cinnamon rolls ready to pop in the oven, and the coffee pot ready to go – the first one up has the job…. Everything is ready by the time we all have gathered around the Christmas tree, well maybe after opening a gift or two :)

  12. My favorite holiday tradition is getting together with family on Christmas Eve for and evening of fun and lots of eating!

  13. Great card with the stacked penguins and the Christmas tree. My favorite holiday tradition is watching the reaction of the little ones as they come down the stairs to view the tree & their presents on Christmas morning.

  14. I love the stacked penguins with the stacked tree. Thanks for a great idea.

  15. Love this cute card! I enjoy all the cards that I receive and have often put them as decorations on my tree. So pretty to look at!

  16. Such a sweet card. I love those adorable penguins. My favorite holiday tradition is gathering with my family. Since I became a grandmother a few years age, I love the joy and excitement they have. It’s contagious.

  17. Love your cute and cheerful card. My children and grandchildren all come to my house for Christmas Eve. We have a wonderful dinner and exchange gifts, however before we exchange gifts we always play some kind of game. I love finding new games for us to play each year. The past couple of years we played the saran wrap ball game but this year we are going to go with the frozen chocolate candy bar game – can’t wait to see their faces when we start this one…going to be so much fun! Merry Christmas!

  18. Such s super cute card, love those penguin pals and your coloring is awesome! Our favorite holiday tradition is a Polish Christmas Eve dinner consisting of 7 dishes,

  19. we always had a weekend set aside to make/decorate dozens of cookies to gift to our neighbors

  20. Love having such inspiration for my Christmas cards. Making Christmas cookies, in the past with my daughters and now with my grandsons.

  21. What a great card & it uses 2 of my most favorite things from the Christmas release, the layered tree & the penguin set. Favorite tradition would be decorating cookies for Santa on Christmas eve followed by going to the candlelight service at church. Thanks for the chance at such a great giveaway.

  22. Beautiful card! Love the texture of the tree die and the penguins are adorable.

  23. Opening gifts on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning is my favorite tradition. I am too tired in the morning!!

  24. Our family has the tradition of putting the tree up together, enjoying Christmas music and snacks and reminiscing about holidays past.

  25. My favorite holiday tradition is “newer” but for the past five years or so my family has adopted a family in need. It’s been such an amazing experience each time and one I highly recommend!

  26. Love the penguins stacked on top of each other! My fave holiday tradition is the whole family just being together on Christmas Eve, drinking, eating, opening presents ::)

  27. What an adorable little stack of penguins decorating the tree – so cute!

  28. My favorite Christmas tradition is family togetherness. No matter what we do or where we are celebrating, just being together is the best.

  29. My favorite tradition is getting my Santa collection out
of the cabinet and putting them on display. I have
dolls, ceramic figurines, ornaments, etc. It takes
several days to get everything out – it’s like
Christmas morning because I’ve forgotten some
of them and its a revelation to see them again.
    Merry Christmas. Thanks for sharing

  30. My favorite holiday tradition is a cookie exchange with friends. Now that the kids are adults and have moved to different states, this is the only tradition left. When lives settle down again, I’m hoping to start new traditions…hopefully with grandchildren! ;-)

  31. Love the darling penguins and the layers tree! So cute!! So many great holiday traditions that I enjoy! Two favs are baking treat for family and going to midnight service on Christmas Eve! Thanks so much for the chance to win the giveaway!

My favorite holiday tradition ? Sending cards, of course !

  33. How adorable – but standing on a log isn’t very stable (hee hee). Love the penguins

  34. What an adorable winter scene! Love the coloring especially on that beautiful Christmas tree and penguins! Thanks for sharing and for inspiration!

  35. Such an adorable card! The favourite Christmas tradition I have with my family is our seafood dinner on Christmas Eve followed by gifts. Such great food and being with family is the best!

  36. One thing we really enjoy doing is riding around the community looking at the different decorations. While some may be grand productions with synchronized music piped through the car speakers & a vast assortment of yard adornments and other homes may have a single row of lights outlining the edge of the doorways, windows and eaves of the house, they are ALL beautiful to see! They remind me of the rides I’d take with my parents on Christmas Eve as we awaited Santa’s arrival later that night. The beautiful lights bring color and life to a drab wintry scene as well as remind us that the Light of the World came at Christmas.

  37. My favorite Christmas tradition is filling up the advent calendar I crafted from felt with cards and goodies for my husband.

  38. I’ve always made a lolly trail from beside the kids beds to the tree. It became a bit more complicated once we got a dog but we still do it even though Phoebe is now 14 and Max just turned 12. Wouldn’t be Christmas without it!!

  39. My favorite Christmas tradition is going to my grandmothers hometown on Christmas Eve to the bonfires show and staying up to midnight popping fireworks and playing board games so that we could open our gifts at midnight!

  40. Fabulous tree with those adorable penguins!!!

I love decorating my house with my girls. Cutting out paper snowflakes is also fabulous with my girls!

  41. Wow such an adorable card! I love how you stacked them up by the die cut tree! Thanks for the chance to win this very generous prize!

  42. About 10 years ago my daughter’s decided they wanted to kick off the holiday with an eggnog get together… it started with the three of us on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Since then we have included nieces and cousins and some of them bring a friend or two. We talk about Christmas, who wants what, dinner strategy or if we want or need to change things up. It is so fun and a great time for everyone to catch up. I love this layered tree and am anxiously awaiting an order. I think this card is so fun and festive. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!

  43. These penguins are TOO CUTE! My fav tradition is reading the Polar Express on Christmas Eve with the entire family.

  44. my favorite holiday tradition is the way we give presents. because all the kids are older, we don’t buy presents, we buy gift certificates, in varying amounts from EVERYWHERE!! my sister and i have made a set of gift tags for a special tree we have, the Gift Tree, that all have pockets on the back. On Christmas morning, we have a giant breakfast, then we sit around and everyone gets to pick a gift certificate off the tree, in age order. It’s a whole lot of fun and everyone gets what they “want.” And, as we use them throughout the year, we are reminded of family.

  45. CUTENESS GALORE!
    LOVE the penguins and tree!
Our tradition is to watch the Carols By Candlelight together on Christmas Eve.
Thank You for the chance to win :)

  46. Such an adorable card. Love the cute penguins.
    Thanks so much for sharing…

  47. I love the sweet little penguins. I really like the stitched look of the tree and how it’s got the extra dimension. Our favorite tradition is the kids in matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. They get to open one gift and then we all snuggle together and watch a movie before bed.

  48. This is lovely! I can’t wait until we move into our house and I can use that pretty stitched tree die! MY favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree with all my ornaments, remembering the sentimental value each one has, while playing holiday music in the background. I also really love dropping off donations to the local animal shelters. Thanks for the chance to win!

  53. My children are both in their 40’s now, but we have been very fortunate that no matter where they live, we have always all been together on Christmas morning. We open one gift at a time and really enjoy what we receive. We have always taken time to enjoy and be grateful during our stocking opening and gift opening time, even when they were little.

  54. My favorite is “family stockings” … we all buy small gifts to stuff each others socks. We rip into the wrappings and “go for it” all at the same time.

  55. Adorable card! love that cute tree and the penguins!
My favorite holiday tradition is baking about 4 or 5 kinds of cookies and delivering them to friends and neighbors!

  75. Sweet card!

    they need.

When I was a kid I could not sleep on Christmas Eve at all (I tried but nope, it never happened). My Sister and I shared a room so needless to say I didn’t let her get much sleep either and by 4am I had her wide awake too. Now that I’m grown I have no problem sleeping at anytime lol but as payback my Sister calls me at 4am every Christmas morning and like she did when we were kids I act mad lol. It has become my favorite tradition and now that we have cell phones and 3-way calling we get our brother in the call too which he says he really hates but he loves it as much as we do. There’s nothing like Sibling love :)

One of our favorite traditions when our kids were little (all are grown now) was hiding their filled stockings and then Dad would write a clue or series of clues for them to guess where their stocking was hidden. We walked to school together, graduated together, were in each other’s weddings, shared events, family milestones and years. Although our lives are different we gather for dinner in the first week of Dec to celebrate Christmas and our friendship. After eating we go to one of the homes for dessert and tiny gift exchange. We laugh and cry and remember fun days. We feel truly blessed.

  121. Great coloring Eloise, love the adorable penguins and how you colored the trees too. My favorite holiday tradition is an advent calendar I do with my kids. Every few days, they get a character from the nativity and they get to read a short bible verse about them. On Christmas they will have the complete nativity. They really enjoy it each year. That, and baking cookies. :-)

  122. My favorite Christmas tradition is one we dont do any more. My mom, sistrer in law and nieces used to make thousands of cookies and give polates of them to neighbors. We made at least 30 or more varieties. My mom is 89, she has outlived many of the cookie recipients and everyone is on diets, so we just amke a few varieties now. Sad, but great memories.

  135. The cards today are just so adorable! I have a real weak spot for snowmen and penguins! My favourite holiday tradition would be all the Christmas baking we do, ending with butter tarts on the last Saturday before Christmas! These are my family’s favourite, which is why they are the last item baked each year!

  136. My favorite tradition is eating Mexican food and watching White Christmas on Christmas Eve! Love it! 🤗

  137. Our tradition is when we travel we get an ornament from the place we’ve visited. When we decorate the tree at Christmas, it’s full of memories of the places we’ve been. Thank you for the chance to win.

  146. My favorite holiday tradition is playing games with my family and having an ugly sweater cookie decorating contest on Christmas day!

  147. After Christmas eve, we all head back to my moms for a dinner with tamales.

  148. Such cute little penguins! My favorite Christmas tradition is celebrating Advent with my kids.

  149. Just like those cute penguins my favourite tradition is decorating the tree together.

  150. My favorite holiday tradition is reading the Christmas story from the Bible before we jump in and tear open the presents.

  151. What a wonderful scene! That tree is spectacular! So so beautiful! A perfect Christmas winter !!!

  152. It’s a tie Christmas 🎄 and Thanksgiving , I just can’t choose between any part of either holidays 🥰 !

  153. My favorite holiday tradition is singing Handel’s Messiah🎶

  154. I remember when I was young, we were only allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. When I had my daughter, we continued the same tradition. Also, we have always lived the farthest from our families, so that always meant we were the ones that had to travel. In the 27 years we have been married, we have never had a Christmas in our own home. So I guess you could say one of our traditions would be driving to our families. We would listen to Chrstmas music and pack special snacks for the trip.

  155. I love these penguins!!!
We love being untraditional…. Doing something new and different every year!!!
    Hope your holidays are magical!!

  156. My favourite tradition is buying a new ornament each year and hanging it up on the tree. There gets to be a new fun theme each year!

  157. Wow..what a card..we generally buy new clothes and exchange gifts.❤❤
